About Senior Scam Watch

A free, plain-language guide to spotting scams and knowing exactly where to report them, made for older adults and the families who help them.

Why it exists

AARP's 2026 survey found that more than half of adults who lost money to a romance scam never reported it, and that shame and not knowing where to go are common reasons. The official places to report are spread across many agencies. This site puts them in one place with large text, a state-by-state list, and a printable card.

What this site is not

How it is kept accurate

Facts link to the public page they came from and carry a last-verified date (see Sources). We re-check hotline numbers, hours and links monthly and update the date when we do. Counts and dollar figures are quoted from the source with their year and are reports, not complete totals.

Corrections

A public corrections address is being set up. Until then, please use the official sources linked on each page to double-check anything before you rely on it.

Who runs it

An independent project operated with automated assistance (an AI assistant helps research and draft pages; sources are linked so you can check every fact).
